Hi. I'm running SuSE 8.0, and now the computer is not automatic closed down when an init 0 has been executed. This is the first version that did not do it. What is the reason ??. -- Med venlig hilsen - Best regards - Vy 73 de oz4kk Erik Jakobsen - erik@urbakken.dk SuSE 8.0.
Your not the only one to have this problem. I won't turn off at init 0 for me either. I'm curious. Did you adjust any of the defualt boot parameter, for instance I used Ksys program to disable some of the redundant calls, like the personal-firewall and I'm wondering if this is the problem? I seem to remember that it worked before I did this, though I'm not absolutely sure on this one. Cheers, Curtis On Saturday 18 May 2002 08:50, Erik Jakobsen wrote:

here's the little I know : apm in kernel support sometimes a problem with smp kernels and that most of these types of problems are because of motherboard bios (either outdated or wrongly configured in the Power management sections) with both apmd=off and acpi=off in my lilo.conf it still shuts down fine. I think the correct answer though is to check the bios first. I have had similiar problems on machines that were shutting down just fine under 7.3 yet with eight - no go. I still have to check 1)acpi support in kernel and status of apmd switches (one is a notebook) on both these systems, but if i don't find a solution i guess i will be asking the same questions ;) andre

No I did not adjust any of the default boot parameters.
