[opensuse] New HP printer (MFP M127) not working via network
Hi, I'm trying to get my new printer to print, It's a Laserjet Pro MFP M127fw. It needs HPLIP to function. When connected via USB, it prints. When connected via the wired network, it's not printing. The printer detects there is a printjob, signals "Document printing" but then hangs. Scanning via the network works fine, as is the web-interface of the printer. Anyone has suggestions how to try to fix this ? hp-doctor does not signal any problems IFAICT. I tried with OS 13.1 and OS 13.2. Thanks, Koenraad. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Hi. I was looking to buy this same model printer as you have. I found a link to a similar problem on a Ubuntu forum at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2260056&highlight=M127FN+Install I hand copied the address so it may not be 100% correct. It says about having to set the connection type to the particular interface you are going to use, usb or wi-fi or ... There is also reference to this in the user manual. Not sure if you have already tried this. HTH. I would be interested in your first impressions about this printer, the print quality and speed. I tested some more. I can get the printer to print when I install it via Cups, using lpd. I will do more tests tomorrow. Print quality and speed are good. Koenraad. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I have to *manually* supply ip for my hp officejet pro 8620 on hplip and it work wonderfully. Previous color laserjet pro also required manually providing ip, whereas cups find both w/o help. Just check router for ip. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Same here. I tell hplip the IP and then it is happy. I also tell it what kind of connection. (jet direct I belive is the choice I select) And also, I have to install hpaio package if I want to use scanner, and that works perfectly with xsane Vuescan, or Scanlite. -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I tried that, didn't work, although I do use it now. I fixed my problem, however. When installing the printer via cups I saw two ppd-files for the 127fw, one for cups, one for hpijs. I always used the cups-driver. Installing the printer with hplip gives as default choice for the driver : /usr/share/cups/model/manufacturer-PPDs/hplip-plugin/hp-laserjet_pro_mfp_m127fw-hpijs.ppd.gz, so I used it, but it didn't work. I looked into the hplip-plugin directory and selected this : /usr/share/cups/model/manufacturer-PPDs/hplip-plugin/hp-laserjet_pro_mfp_m127fw.ppd.gz Now the printer works fine.
