I got around to installing kernel 3.4.0-26 and I still see the same errors. Relevant output from dmesg:
[41998.522573] usb 13-1: New USB device found, idVendor=174c, idProduct=5106 [41998.522579] usb 13-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=2, Product=3, SerialNumber=1 [41998.522584] usb 13-1: Product: AS2105 [41998.522587] usb 13-1: Manufacturer: ASMedia [42003.511960] usb 13-1: can't set config #1, error -110 [42006.438384] [Firmware Bug]: APEI: Invalid bit width + offset in GAR [0xc7ec8150/32/0/1/0]
I can't tell if the firmware error is related to this problem, either.
Any ideas what I can try next?
Does the usb drive work with any other operating system? You might try a "live" cd and see if the usb drive shows up there?
You will really get more and better advice if you would keep this conversation on the list where knowledgable people will see it.
Sorry, I meant to email the list but incorrectly emailed you only. Yes, the usb 3.0 drive works fine with Windows 7. I tried the 12.1 and 12.2 beta 1 live disks and they both do not work. I got kernel 3.4.2-28 installed and it still gives me the same error now: [12139.678537] usb 13-1: New USB device found, idVendor=174c, idProduct=5106 [12139.678543] usb 13-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=2, Product=3, SerialNumber=1 [12139.678549] usb 13-1: Product: AS2105 [12139.678552] usb 13-1: Manufacturer: ASMedia [12144.668055] usb 13-1: can't set config #1, error -110 [12176.801380] [Firmware Bug]: APEI: Invalid bit width + offset in GAR [0xc7ec8150/32/0/1/0] I am at a loss why this does not work for me or how to fix it.
