[SLE] mobo AX63 Pro + Geforce 2 GTS HELP ME PLEASE !!
Hi, Anyone got an mobo AX63 PRO from AOpen with a VIA Apollo Pro133 AGPset chipset and a Geforce 2 GTS 32Mb running? If yes please, "as the Beatle song sings", please heeeeelllllllppppp meeeeeee. ( in fact my son 16 years old willing to linux linux-suse ). I'll start with the results I have : nvidia driver OK module NVdriver loads fine module agpgart loads fine ( seems not necessary with the NVdriver as I get the same result without this module). XF86Config ----> nvidia Ok; load "glx" OK; If I run startx, it crashes (squashed green lines +/-1/4 of screenhorizantally) If I do sax2, crash but gives 4 same vertical screen sections where I can see some final statements of sax2 NB : the two ifs above requiers hard reset, machine screws up. So finally the only thing making it work is putting in the screen section the option "NvAGP" "0" which I suppose disables AGP. I tried everything in tomshardware , any option ( Nvreg_Via etc....) settings in my module.conf So If anyone has this card running on that same mobo without NvAGP=0 be so kind to help me and send over your etc/X11/XF and etc/module.conf Installation : SuSE 7 standard installation kernel 2.2.16 X11 not beeing configured during the installation Upgrade to XFree4.0.1 ( rpm -- force - Uhv *.rpm; ldconfig) as per README rpm -force - Uhv nv_glx.rpm nvdriver.rpm; depmod -a as per README ax2 -m 0=fbdev to have an initial XF86 file editing XF86Config and putting "nvidia" that's all ( except the NvAGP option in the screen section). running ssystem -bench on his system gives 8.5 fps???? Thanks for any help. This sounds like a genuine problem. I would let nvidia's support know via email so that it may make into a future release. I have contacted them before and they are very pleasant. Here is the email: linux-bugs@nvidia.com

I don't think that AGP is responsible for this. Prior releases of the driver did not have AGP support, and I was getting 100fps with an AMD Athlon 600Mhz and a GeForce 256. I would suspect something else. Did you remove the file /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.a. I have found that XF86-4.01 loaded this in preference to /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
Sorry, stayed a little out, OK, since : 1. I get 220 fps with my Geforce DDR on my computer, 2. I get 295 fps with my sons Geforce 2 just swapped in my computer I will : 1. ask nvidia why that AGP VIA is making trouble. 2. try to check file by file with diff what is different. So any ideas are welcome on which file, autoconf.h, etc... thanks. One reminder : I installed GF2 with RH7 very quickly before on sons PC. RH7 recognized an nv driver while SuSE just crashed. I didn't investigate futher on, but might do. thanks again Le mar, 03 oct 2000, vous avez écrit :
