[opensuse] OpenSUSE 11.0 with Gnome - cannot lock screen
I have just installed OpenSUSE 11.0 with Gnome, on amd x86_64. I find that I cannot lock the screen, neither via the applet in my panel nor through the Computer control panel. There is no visible response to clicking the icon. Any suggestions? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I have received one individual reply to this query:
I have openSUSE 11.0 on a Sun Ultra-20 (which is a dual-core Opteron box) and it does the same thing. I can manually type 'xlock -mode blank' and that works, but clicking on the 'lock screen' icon on the gnome menu does nothing....
I have just 'fixed' the problem by zapping the gnome screensaver and using xscreensaver, Fairly relevant instructions (but Suse organises things differently) are here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=195557 My custom launcher gives me a nice little screensaver icon which executes: xscreensaver-command -lock which together with xscreensaver itself in the background is all I need. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
