That basic request is that one or more simple tools be provided to allow a fstab to be automatically converted from /dev/sdaX nomenclature to one of the preferred methods.
I think it's a very good idea jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.org http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-eic8MSSfM http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1412160445 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Better to make sure one doesn't already exist. One was probably necessary back around 10.2 when the switch from legacy IDE to libata went mainstream. IIRC Mandriva has or had this very thing, and I'd be more surprised than not if in 10.2+ if there isn't one just waiting to be discovered. Maybe someone on irc://freenode/#opensuse-factory or the opensuse-factory mailing list would know and answer. -- "The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty." Felix, I have some servers I've upgraded since 8.2 days I think. They still have the old nomenclature in the fstab. So if a tool was ever made, it was not publicized in the upgrade process, or I wouldn't be doing this now.
