Creating an FTP site for installing packages
I have SuSE Linux 9.2 Professional on CD and DVD. It would be convenient to load the whole set of packages from CD on to a spare Solaris box, and then get YAST to load packages from there, rather than from the CDs. It seems as though this would be possible, but I can't find any instructions about what the directory layout has to be on the FTP server. Is this documented somewhere? Once I have created appropriate top level directories, I assume I just copy the CDs onto the server and ensure that an anonymous FTP client can read the files. Is that right? Thanks Nigel

Why not go to the SuSE site and see how they're set up?

You would be better off dumping the DVD to the solaris box as the DVD contains many more packages than the CD's. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989 SuSE since 1998 * Only reply to the list please*

Make say /srv/ftp/9.2 on the server, copy the dvd to it then, on the clients, use Yast>software>change source of installation from cd to ftp. I think
