SLES8 on Novell "Linux Technical resource Kit"
Hi everybody I installed a SLES8 from the isos contained on one of the free dvd from Novell. My question is: Is that version crippled in any way? i mean, will it stop working after one month or something like that? i couldn't find a readme telling that, but i always doubt about 'evaluation software' (YKWIM). Thanks in advance LeoR
You cant update it via suses online update feature
without a key/password something. So its full of
kernel bugs as is.
You might be able to get one - But I doubt it.

Linux vendors do not cripple their products. You do not need to be concerned about expiration, but as Sheridan mentioned, it is an as-is release with zero support. If you want to upgrade anything, you are on your own. Also, remember that SLES8 is the 2.4 kernel and SLES9 is the 2.6 kernel. -- Jerry Feldman

And don't forget that you cannot use your server in production or for commercial needs. Laurent Renard
Its a nice proof of concept. - I once waved a demo of
it at 'management' eg this is what Linux can do.
Were happy with the 'hobby' version and customising
that to our own liking.

Nope, it's not crippled, and you can apply online for a 30 day free
password for access to patches. To get this, you need to visit:
http://portal.suse.com
register as a new user and take it from there.
Good luck, Jon
