SPAM: Re: [SLE] not receiving all mail from the list
I seem to be receiving a very small percentage of the list mail, since about Sept. 21, 2006 (I believe the server was shut down for a couple of days.) I started monitoring list mail more closely since Oct. 20th. Mail seemed normal on the 23rd. Dropped off substantially on the 24th. On the 25th October I only received about six mails from the list. There were about 30 concerning Skype, I received one (This is a subject I am interested in). There were about 40 others I did not receive. None of these were tagged as spam. What's wrong with the list (this is also a past subject I received no mail on)? Morning of the 26th about 9 mails came through slowly, still only part of what I saw in the archives. -- ED --

Several people already complained about this. I still do not see the common factor at the moment. John Anderson said that he also received very few mails for the last days, and he is using his own server. I saw enough traffic on my server to believe that I received all the mails send from the list. It might be useful to have a look at the network section that is noticing this drop in email reception. Otherwise only the admin of the suse server can tell, if there is an internal reason on the listserver for the lack of emails or if the problem is somewhere else. Sandy PS: I noticed that you sent your mail to the list-owner as well. It might be a good idea to set a reply-to header to the list address to prevent a lot of replies being sent to the list-owner as well as the list itself. Otherwise he might feel inclined to invoke Darwin's Law. (^-^) -- List replies only please! Please address PMs to: news-reply2 (@) japantest (.) homelinux (.) com

Sorry, I didn't think of that. I am somewhat new to using mailing lists. Any way the message didn' go to the owner. Received this explanation: Final-Recipient: RFC822; <SuSE-Linux-E-owner@opensuse.org> Action: failed Status: 5.1.1 Remote-MTA: dns; mx1.suse.de (195.135.220.2) Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 <SuSE-Linux-E-owner@opensuse.org>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table -- ED -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------

That should be suse-linux-e-owner@suse.com not @opensuse.org

Thanks Stan, I would never have noticed that if you hadn't. -- ED --
