Hi,
sending the binary directly. Please check how that behaves.
Hi Thanks got it:
./gio-protocol-test32 Usage: ./gio-protocol-test32 SCHEME
./gio-protocol-test32 http Searching default handler for http: firefox %u
Can that be changed?
Usually yes and actually exactly as I described earlier with the file below .local for every user. You had according to a previous mail: [Default Applications] x-scheme-handler/http=chromium.desktop x-scheme-handler/https=chromium.desktop x-scheme-handler/news=thunderbird.desktop x-scheme-handler/snews=thunderbird.desktop x-scheme-handler/nntp=thunderbird.desktop [Added Associations] x-scheme-handler/news=thunderbird.desktop; x-scheme-handler/snews=thunderbird.desktop; x-scheme-handler/nntp=thunderbird.desktop; This is different to what I posted earlier. Please make sure that below Added Association also is an entry form http and it contains chromium.desktop like this: [Default Applications] x-scheme-handler/http=chromium.desktop x-scheme-handler/https=chromium.desktop x-scheme-handler/news=thunderbird.desktop x-scheme-handler/snews=thunderbird.desktop x-scheme-handler/nntp=thunderbird.desktop [Added Associations] x-scheme-handler/http==chromium.desktop x-scheme-handler/https=chromium.desktop x-scheme-handler/news=thunderbird.desktop; x-scheme-handler/snews=thunderbird.desktop; x-scheme-handler/nntp=thunderbird.desktop; The try the gio test program again. Could be that this was the issue. Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I know I changed this relatively easily on lxde on ubuntu on my little Vaio P. No editing anything. No command-line tool, never even heard of gio let alone ran a command or edited a file relating to it. If I get a chance I'll take a look later but that little pc isn't booting at the moment so I have to make a bootable usb, fix grub2 from my idiotic self-inflicted breakage. (I so smartly modified gfxterm.c and compiled my own grub2, then so idiotically ran strip on the resulting gfxterm.mod, and so studiously leaned all about how useless the grub2 rescue mode is. If the grub-legacy code is really so bad and in need of overhaul as the grub developers claim, I say grub2 is a usability _disaster_ and everyone should just skip it and maybe grub3 will be good for both developers and users.) -- bkw -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It was a simple start-menu entry. Start -> Preferences -> Preferred Applications. Offers a small dialog to set the default web browser and default mail client. The right-click properties for that menu entry says it's running the command: libfm-pref-apps This is lxde on lubuntu 11.10 not opensuse. All my suse boxes are headless servers. -- bkw -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

This is lxde on lubuntu 11.10 not opensuse. Yes. On lubuntu (and lxde under lubuntu) that option is there and libfm-pref-apps is installed.
