Hi all, I need to change the dpi of my screen, but I can't find out where to do it. I use Suse 8.2, kde 3.1.4 and Xfree86 server 4.3.0.111. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well, you can switch between different screen resolutions by pressing Ctrl + Alt + the 'plus' or 'minus' key on the numerical keypad. The resolutions you want can be set in /etc/X11/XF86Config. As an example, to enter 1024x768 and 800x600: Section "Screen" DefaultDepth 16 ... SubSection "Display" Depth 16 Modes "1024x768" "800x600" SH

dpi is a parameter of the X server, see "man Xserver". I don't know the "recommended" way but you may try to change e.g. the Xservers file. There are more instances so choose the right one: /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/Xservers - I would start here /etc/X11/xdm/Xservers -- A.M.

Hylton, I think you will find that is only applies to Red Hat or RH derivatives, like YDL or Mandrake and Debian uses it too. Lee -- --- KMail v1.5.4 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.2 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...
