I am adding virtual hosts to our new Suse box, moving over from FreeBSD. I
would like to maintain the Suse config as much as possible. With that in
mind I understand that if I want to add a VirtualHost I should do it in:
/etc/httpd/modules. Can someone point me to the format for the
Variable name? ie, it uses HTTPD_SEC_PUBLIC_HTML for the public
html option or can I just make a file for the virtual hosts using this format:

look for this part in your /etc/sysconfig/apache # # Here you can name files, separated by spaces, that should be Include'd # from # httpd.conf. # # This allows you to add e.g. VirtualHost statements without touching # /etc/httpd/httpd.conf itself, which means that SuSEconfig will # continue doing its # job (since it would not touch httpd.conf any longer as soon it detects # changes # made by the admin via the md5sum mechanism) # HTTPD_CONF_INCLUDE_FILES="/etc/httpd/susefaq.conf" make sure you have the correct location of your configuration file after that run /sbin/SuSEconfig --module apache and rcapache restart Hope this helps -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx
I run a Linux server (http://www.blu.org). We support serveral virtual
hosts through Apache on a single IP address simply using the structures in
httpd.conf.
Here is an example of one of them:

Thank you, that is what I was doing with a custom build of Apache, but was trying to do it the Suse way since it will not run Suseconfig on the httpd.conf file once you edit it. I tried doing an include and was not able to get it to work so I went and put the entries in httpd.conf. Are you using MySQL with Postfix at all? Coming from a sendmail shop I must say that I am impressed with Postfix, especially the config! Thanks again. -Scott On Wednesday 17 July 2002 10:23, Jerry Feldman wrote:

We found it to be a bit touchy. We also use postfix for email, and do a similar thing with the listservs.

If you have a look to my previous post to your question the answer lies there just place your virtual host configuration directives in a file and name it whatever.conf then edit /etc/sysconfig/apache and HTTPD_CONF_INCLUDE_FILES=whatever.conf this way everything will be SuSE way no barkings from SuSEconfig -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx
We are using Postfix, but not MySQL. John had a problem with it, and is using Postgress. As much as I tried, I could not convince John to use SuSE. He had a bad experience with SuSE a long time ago (probably 1.0 or something). On 17 Jul 2002 at 11:32, Scott wrote:
