Hello, I just buy a "spyker sata dock" like this one http://www.amazon.fr/Spyker-DOCK-SPY-2NFREE-Station-daccueil-Disque/dp/B0065... on my main computer, there is no problem. on my laptop, with usb2/usb3, it works only on the usb3 connector. As far as I can understand, it keeps trying to connect as usb3: the usb3 led flashes, and I see "xuhdi connect" (or similar word) on dmesg, several lines. I can't try it with windows as the only disk I have at hand (a ssd) have only linux file systems and windows can't read them (the device list shows a mass storage device) any idea? I would need to have several such device to copy from one to the other thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

looks like a 13.2 problem, I could reboot a 13.1 on the same computer and it works perfectly usb2 and usb3 as well thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I think something did go bad with ubs in 13.2 - I also have an open issue with a scanner connected via usb. On 13.1, the scans are fine, on 13.2 they're rather psychedelical. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (1.9°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - free dynamic DNS, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I have one open on the scanner issue, I think it would be worth opening one on your problem because it's quite clearly about USB. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (1.7°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Did you reboot from 13.1 to 13.2? If the system did not power off, odds are the problem still exists. The usb hardware apparently was properly initialized with 13.1 and rebooting did not reset it to the states it would be if it was starting from a power off state. Please check to see if the problem occurs again when starting 13.2 from power off state. If so, it is worthy of a bug report. This kind of thing has happened before, most often when rebooting to linux from windoze without turning off the power. The problem always occurred starting from power off state but rarely if ever when rebooting from windoze to linux without turning off power. IIRC, it was a common occurrence when usb2.0 was still new. jd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

nope, it do not happen anymore. If it was a hardware config problem, it was solved by some of the test steps and remembered by the device (after a night unplugged). or remembered by the linux config. no idea, but it works... thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

You should try a complete power-off and reboot, to make sure. And anyway, that it did not work directly on 13.1 might be reportable. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 13.1 x86_64 "Bottle" at Telcontar)

yesterday evening, I disconnected the interface (and the disk) and switched off the computer. this morning I booted, connected on usb 2 and it worked. I switched off again after disconnecting the device, booted, connected on usb 3, ok. disconnected, connected to usb 23, still ok...

it worked in 13.1, only bugged in 13.2 yesterday afternoon (I buy the device in the morning) I will report if it fails again jdd
