I am using the netscape email client and I got an email with some jpg file attached to it, but whenever I click in the attached files it pop ups a new netscape window (like trying to open it) and then it give me the error message I mentioned in the subject. It means that netscape is configured to use the program 'xv' to show image files, and it's not installed Two options: 1) Install it, it's in the series 'pay' on the disks 2) Use something else, the GIMP for example... Edit -> Preference -> Navigator -> Applications Select the relevant file type, and do the business...

Much as I thought xview is nice, I think it is quicker and almost as good to
follow James's advice below and then just set things up so that Netscape
handles the file viewing itself. I did have xview installed as the image
client, but it's a bit of a bore to have it open every time you want to look
at an image.

Somehow I couldnt make it.
First looks like xv wasnt installed, so I install it
but after that it didnt work anyway, so Im using the
Kview and is running ok.

xv is some viewing utility. Netscape tries to open it using the shell... and fails. Try installing it form the installation CD's...
