If you are talking about using mail in StarOffice along with PGP, there are several GUI wrappers out that will cut and paste text while also becoming a PGP / GPG key manager, and do all of the work for you. Just copy and click basically. These are geheimnis, seahorse, and TKPGP. All of these work very well, but act as clear signing, and not PGP /GPG MINE. All in all, they work very well, and as a side benefit, manage your keyrings. Just copy or highlight the text, and click on the wrapper, it will automatically paste and encrypt/sign for you. Then just place it back into StarOffice. I use them with all my MUAs when I send mail to the Winders non-compliant PGP/MINE mailers.

At the moment, I use the command-line utilities to encrypt/decrypt messages.
Interesting. When in a hurry, I do too.
But, in the past I used kmail, and I had it set up to routinely sign all my messages with a PGP signature. Doing this via the wrapper would be... less transparent.
Yes, I agree. Speaking of Kmail, the new KDE 2 has Kmail with built in pgp support, they really did a nice job on it overall. I still like my Mutt, and a couple of others.
It could be a short-term solution, but I'd still like to know whether it's possible to get PGP in staroffice up and running, sinds it does install a special java applet for it.
When I get a chance over the weekend, after Thanksgiving, I will play with it. I just setup StarOffice yesterday. Will let you know. -- Best regards, Gary Today's thought: Before you criticize someone walk a mile in his shoes. That way if he gets angry he'll be a mile away -- and barefoot.

Yes, and it also has a component PGP support during installation... that's the strange thing...
The README file under /home/user/office52/ says as follows <p>PGP Support Under Unix PGP support requires a JAVA environment installed on the system, because the PGP to StarOffice link takes place by way of JAVA. In StarOffice you also have to enable use of Java, under Tools - Options - Browser - Other. <p>Maybe this is what you are looking for -- Togan Muftuoglu toganm@turk.net 100% MS FREE Absolutely no component of Microsoft was used in the generation or posting of this e-mail.
