Hello All, What is the correct syntax to back up a directory and all subdirectories to a tar.gz file on another partition. I mounted data1 and data2. then I issued tar -czvf data1/home/keith/* /data2/LTP and it zipped along but I cannot find a tar.gz file for this. What did I do wrong? Regards, Keith B. P.S I ran that as root.
the f takes the name of the tar file right after is. tar czf outfile.tar.gz data1/home/keith will tar and gzip the directory and put it in outfile.tar.gz regards Anders On Thursday 15 November 2001 18:29, kbb0927@cs.com wrote:
