I have configured two virtual desktops (user), but everytime I login to KDE as user, there is only one virt. Desktop left? Where has the other one gone?
I have two virtual desktops configured in KDE. I'd prefer to have something in a panel that would let me switch between them, but couldn't find any such facility. Instead, KDE switches between desktops when I move the cursor to the very top (or bottom) of my screen. Is there a way for me to have the two virtual desktops adjacent "horizontally" instead of being adjacent "vertically" ? mikus (9.1, with latest apt upgrades in 'kde' and 'gnome')

That'll be the pager then... Dylan -- "I see your Schwartz is as big as mine" -Dark Helmet

Add the pager applet to your panel.

Indeed 8). Handy shortcut cntrl + tab to go forwards a desktop. I use this constantly. [cntrl + shift + tab for backwards a desktop].

Another trick if you use a scroll mouse is put the mouse pointer in the pager area and scroll away. -- Ken Schneider unix user since 1989 linux user since 1994 SuSE user since 1998 (5.2)

Another trick if you use a scroll mouse is put the mouse pointer in the pager area and scroll away. The problem is that there is no 2nd desktop!

Nose around!
Right-click on the desktop, Choose 'Configure Desktop', Choose 'Multiple Desktops', Increase the 'Number of Desktops'
Okay, but the next time I log in, the second desktop is gone, and I have to restart "Configure Desktop"! Laurent -- Linux is like an indian tent: no Windows, no Gates and an Apache inside

Logout, init 3, remove or rename ~/.kde, then init 5 and you start with a clean slate to try setting up your desktop again. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... Hamradio G3VBV and keen Flyer ===== LINUX ONLY USED HERE =====

yes, _very_ clean, all kde apps configurations will be gone. Such as kmail, it will be unconfigured again. May be it is sufficient just to delete the file containing the configuration about the desktops. Or to make sure it is writeable, so it does accept changes. Is it in kderc?
Regards Sid.
