[SLE] Upgraded from 2.1.10 to 2.2.14 kernel, now I have pppd problems
Hello Everyone, I just upgraded to the 2.2.14 kernel (for USB reasons) and I now have problems with the 'pppd' daemon. I downloaded the 2.2.14 from kernel.org and compiled. I configured PPP as a module (even if I compile PPP support into the kernel the same result occurs) and the compile went well and booted up fine. However, if I try to dialup (using Kppp) as a user I get a message saying something to the effect "No kernel support for PPP". If the login as root and run Kppp, I can dialup normally. I rebooted the system using the 2.2.10 kernel and the problem goes away. I have no idea what the problem is, I even upgraded to pppd-2.3.10 and still I have the problem if I bootup with the 2.2.14 kernel image. I help there is someone out there knows what the solution is. Thank you for your help in advance. Could it be that you need a newer version of pppd? Look in
linux/Documentation/Changes for which version you need.

I downloaded the ppp-2.3.10 package from the SuSE ftp site. That didn't solve the problem. -Chris -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
