Re: [SLE] Need some help on the ftp site
You trying to download a full suse install(~2 gig) via 56k modem? If you want the equivalent of the CDs then it will be about 6+ gig. Get a network card and some fast way(local university) to download it or buy it. Easiest would be to wipe Windows of the machine and set up partitions for Windows and Linux via Linux installer. Then install Windows again and then install Linux. mk

Q1. I need to know how to configure the installation procedure to allow me to use my modem as the method of connection to the ftp site; it is an actiontec internal 56k v.90 modem that was meant for laptops. When I would usually try to follow the directions, it said that I needed to configure my network modules, but I have not yet been able to do this.
Q2. Does suse or linux support my actiontec modem if it turns out to be a winmodem, what drivers are there to make it work for the setup?
Q3. Where are all the files that I ought to have, or can have as standard suse linux applications and other stuff, on the ftp server? Which files should I get, not just the minimal, but the one that will get me to the equivalent of buying the cd.
Q4. Would I be able to use a system that takes a static internet "name", and whenever some computer requests that name, it sends that computer to my current dynamic ip address, instead of the static Ip that suse says that I need in order to get through with ftp installation?
Q5. What must I do as far as partitions go, I need to run both windows and linux until I am used to it.
Noorah

Whenever I tried to run Sax2, I'd get the black screen that could only be cured by restarting. Upgrading to the latest version of X (4.0.3?) and getting the latest drivers from the nvidia website seems to have cured it (I hope!) Olly
