[opensuse] ATA/UDMA problem when switching from SUSE 10.0 to openSUSE 10.3
Hi all. I have two similar ATA drives that are recognized by SUSE 10.0 as UDMA 100, see boot.msg excerpt: <6>PDC20265: (U)DMA Burst Bit ENABLED Primary PCI Mode Secondary PCI Mode. <6> ide2: BM-DMA at 0x8800-0x8807, BIOS settings: hde:pio, hdf:pio <6> ide3: BM-DMA at 0x8808-0x880f, BIOS settings: hdg:pio, hdh:pio <7>Probing IDE interface ide2... <4>hde: SAMSUNG SP1213N, ATA DISK drive <4>hdf: SAMSUNG SP1614N, ATA DISK drive <4>ide2 at 0xa000-0xa007,0x9802 on irq 10 <7>ide_acpi_hwif_get_handle: ENTER: device ide2 <7>ide_get_dev_handle: ENTER: pci 00:11.0 <7>ide_get_dev_handle: for dev=0x11.0, addr=0x110000, parent=0xdff6ec00, *handle=0x00000000 <7>ide_acpi_hwif_get_handle: ide_get_dev_handle failed (-19) <7>ide_acpi_init: no ACPI object for ide2 found <6>hde: max request size: 128KiB <6>hde: 234493056 sectors (120060 MB) w/8192KiB Cache, CHS=16383/255/63, UDMA(100) <6>hde: cache flushes supported <6> hde: hde1 hde2 < hde5 hde6 hde7 hde8 > hde3 hde4 <6>hdf: max request size: 128KiB <6>hdf: 312581808 sectors (160041 MB) w/8192KiB Cache, CHS=19457/255/63, UDMA(100) <6>hdf: cache flushes supported <6> hdf: hdf1 hdf2 A parallel installation of openSUSE 10.3 on the same machine treats the second ATA disk as PIO/4, see boot.msg excerpt below. If I trusted the messages, I would conclude openSUSE 10.3 shows a regression here. Any similar effects, any help? <5>SCSI subsystem initialized <7>libata version 3.00 loaded. <7>pata_via 0000:00:04.1: version 0.3.1 <6>scsi0 : pata_via <6>scsi1 : pata_via <6>ata1: PATA max UDMA/100
