Just installed suse 10.3 and made a raid 0 swap partition that I get the following error on boot: Read-error on swap-device (9:0:8) Unable to find swap-space signature I tried to re-format as swap in yast partitioner and get the following error: Error Failure occurred during following action: Formatting software RAID /dev/md0 (501.9 MB) with swap System error code was: -3004 Next I try to remove the raid to reformat, I get the following error: Error Failure occurred during following action: Deleting software RAID /dev/md0 System error code was: -6006 mdadm --stop /dev/md0: mdadm: fail to stop array /dev/md0: Device or resource busy Disk info: sg7:~ # fdisk -l Disk /dev/sda: 9100 MB, 9100044288 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 1106 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Disk identifier: 0x23e4d4f6 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 1 32 257008+ fd Linux raid autodetect /dev/sda2 33 1106 8626905 fd Linux raid autodetect Disk /dev/sdb: 9100 MB, 9100044288 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 1106 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Disk identifier: 0x23e4d4f6 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 1 32 257008+ fd Linux raid autodetect /dev/sdb2 33 1106 8626905 fd Linux raid autodetect Disk /dev/md1: 8833 MB, 8833875968 bytes 2 heads, 4 sectors/track, 2156708 cylinders Units = cylinders of 8 * 512 = 4096 bytes Disk identifier: 0x00000000 Disk /dev/md1 doesn't contain a valid partition table Any help in getting the swap to initialize in raid, or in removing and just using a standard partition as a swap is appreciated. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

N.B.: raid 0 swap = needlessy redundant. The swap code itself is intelligent enough to do striping even without any mdraid configuration. Just need the pri= parameter in the fstab entry once your system is installed, and use same priority. $ grep swap /etc/fstab /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD400EB-00CP_WD-WCAAT5461367-part1 swap swap auto,pri=1 0 0 /dev/disk/by-id/ata-DIAMOND_250G_2B_030400026______-part1 swap swap auto,pri=1 0 0 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
