Hi all, Just a quick one, has anyone here upgraded (or tried) a SuSE 8.0 server (not sure if it's pro or personal, running only samba as far as I can tell) to 9.1 Pro? How did it go? Anything to look out for? Thank you -- Kind regards Hans du Plooy Newington Consulting Services hansdp at newingtoncs dot co dot za

There's always something to look out for. ;-) I did an 8.2 to 9.1 upgrade by the book (SuSE 9.1 Admin Guide) and it all seems to work. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

At home (and work) I have /home on a separate partion that I don't wipe between installations. I always do a clean install on / though. The only issue I got was that my uid has changed from 500 upwards to 1000 upwards. Not serious though.

Good to hear. I'll follow that route when my copy arrives. Mike -- getting impatient

Not me :-)

Have a full backup ready, just in case. If the install bombs out, you have a backup to save your day. If it doesn't (bomb out), you still have a nice backup :-p -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
