I have just bought a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP mobo with a AMD XP 1800+ cpu that runs ddr 233 ram. It has a promise onboard ide ata133/raid chipset, meaning that I have 2 additional ide inputs on the mobo - similair to the HPT series chipset/ide config. The problem I'm having, unlike the HPT370 which SuSE recognized and allow as "/" root partition, is that it isn't recognized during install. It did ask me if I wanted to install to modules. One being the ataraid and the other being the pdcraid. The ataraid is loaded autoclean but unused. The pdcraid gives the following message. Crusher-1:/home/crrey # modprobe pdcraid /lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/drivers/ide/pdcraid.o: init_module: No such device Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters /lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/drivers/ide/pdcraid.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/drivers/ide/pdcraid.o failed /lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/drivers/ide/pdcraid.o: insmod pdcraid failed I have tried to give it the IO and IRQ but it gives a similiar message. I am hoping that someone will know the answer or point be to an archive or FAQ about how to enable this chipset. I do remember having similiar problems about a year and a half ago with the HPT366/370 but that seems to have been solved. I'm hoping this is a learning curve and not a path to unsupported hardware. TIA. Curtis
