hi. recently, i have got a small digital camera -- "Acer Digital Camera 300mini", and i tried to work with it under my SuSE 8.0 this device works fine for me with the recent gPhoto2 version as "STM USB Dualmode camera". -- but only when i set the /usr/bin/gphoto2 as suid-root. non of the programs worked for me when i was running them as non-root. :-( -- "the usb device could not be claimed" and i did not knew where to set needed permissions, however, i tryed 'camera:/' in konquerror as a root, and found out that could only view images in it, but i could neither copy nor move nor delete them from camera (i could do it with gphoto2). antoher issue: i could not (quickly) find a way i could use my camera as a web-cam (e.g. as for net-meeting -- such usage is allowed for my model in windows.) Sincerelly, Vitaly PS: the other idea that comes to mind is that in the upcoming KDE 3.1 release, it is proclaimed that the thumbnails will be used stored-in-files rather than generated. Usually, cameras make thumbnails themselves, and generally, it would be obvious if thumbnail previews would be taken from camera directly rather than generated from it's full-size images. and another wish is that the 'camera:/' content to be should be changed automatically whenever i connect or disconnect a camera

I had trouble with my Kodak DC-4800 with camera:/ in Konqueror - it basically didn't work at all. My camera was also a tad flaky with gphoto2 but useable, however, I could only download one photo at a time, and there was no command recall mode with gphoto2 --shell. The one app that works perfectly for me is gtkam. You might consider trying it out, and perhaps it will work for you also. When I bought my Digital Camera, I very specifically specified either Compact Flash or Smart Media for the specific reason that I could get a reader for those. I chose a Canon Sure Shot S3 at a pretty decent price. On 16 Jul 2002 at 23:11, Andy Stewart wrote:

I have a similar problem. My Kodak DC265 can view files in Camera:/ but that is all. On the command line in a terminal, gphoto2 will dowload the files and do everything you would normally expect. It would be nice to do this in Konq. Brian Marr On Friday 05 July 2002 08:44, Vitaly Shishakov wrote:
