I finished updateing KDE for 9.1 via Yast, but now have NO Konq....crashes. Everything else seems to be fine. It crashes with a "signal 11, SIGSEGV" error. 'Hope there's a fix for this! Konq. as browser AND file manager crashes. Thanks! Fred -- "Running Windows on a Pentium is like getting a Porsche but only being able to drive it in reverse with the handbrake on."

I assume you updated KDE to 3.3, by adding the FTP site as Yast source. When I did this I had the same problem... What I Did wrong (I think) was to select too many packages out of the KDE 3.3 directory instead of just accepting the default selected.

What I did contained a FUBAR, so I'll propose something slightly diferent in the hopes you'll miss the foobar... Try the following: Step 1: as root in a console TERMINAL (<ctrl><alt><f1>), do "init 3", to shutdown KDE. Step 2: Start Yast2 as console app by entering yast2 Step 3: Remove all the kde 3.3 packages. When it says dependancies brooken I remove thoose that are not too big, (ie. I didnot remove OO, and other apps, but did remove most kde stuff. Step 4: Probably not required but, then I did it just incase, reboot back to level 3. If you get to init 5, FVWM starts up since KDE is brooken. Step 5: In Level 3, Reenter Yast2, select only basic KDE 3.3 packages avoiding the optionals, let Yast choose the additionals that it needs. Step 6; Enter init 5, and everything worked... Hope this helps... Jerry P.S: I haven't tried reinstalling lots of the options since then but the machine works stable since then...
Thanks!
Fred

I only added 1, but that may have caused the problem.

Try the following:
No need.......I went back in a forced a reinstall of ALL packages selected for KDE 3.3, then rebooted, being paranoid as I am. All is well now. Thanks, Fred -- "Running Windows on a Pentium is like getting a Porsche but only being able to drive it in reverse with the handbrake on."
