Hi, I've installed SuSE 7.1 on an old pentium 100 with 32 MByte RAM. It is running fine except that TOp tells me that kapm-idled is munching away more than 50% of the CPU capacity. What is this kapm-idled doing, can I get rid of it and if so, how? Thanks Nico

It is a kernel thread that send idle commands to the CPU when that is not beeing used. It saves energy on some CPUs, and can safely be ignored. -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort." -- A. I think it is something to do with the default 2.4.0 kernel. I upgraded and the problem disappeared. Regards Brian -- Brian Galbraith | GnuPG 1.0.6 | SuSE Linux 7.1 -2.4.5 PGP Key 0x8232434C http://website.lineone.net/~bgalbraith/pgpkey.html
