I installed SuSE 11 RC1 and everything except wireless works. I have a ThinkPad T60 laptop with 11abg wireless card which works with my default distro mepis 7.01 and wireless works "right out of the box".
This is what I tried:
yast 2 -- Network services: No wireless shown Network Devices: No wireless shown Network Settings: AR5212 802.11 abg -- NIC not configured
11.0 RC1 here (upgraded from Beta3 using "zypper dist-upgrade") on a Thinkpad T42p, AR5212 802.11 abg wifi card here works beautifully with the ath5k driver. Looking in the YaST network card setup, the module name shown is ath5k, device name is wlan0. ath0 is the device name on my 10.3 box running Madwifi, so my guess is that your system thinks it's running madwifi rather than ath5k. My 11.0 system automatically selected ath5k during the installation of beta3 (and beta2, for that matter). Hope this helps. If you need more info, I'd be happy to provide it. I have the problem in which my Atheros card is recongized by YaST, and at boot time, but NetworkManager doesn't show any networks. Installing Madwifi fixed the problem. -- Kevin "Yo" Dupuy Public Mail <kevin.dupuy@opensuse.org> Yo.media: 225-590-5961 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
