[opensuse] Kompozer

So, I downloaded both Bluegriffon and Quanta for kde3, and find they're both vastly inferior to Kompozer (ref. my message of 9/30). Suse doesn't have Kompozer, and I tried downloading it from the site, but they only have it in source format, which I was unsuccessful in compiling. I see frequent references to a suse site for building, but as I recall, it requires registration, and probably more knowledge than I have (I'm a long-time embedded systems engineer, programming mostly in assembly language and low-level embedded C). I've been typing in html tags by hand, but that's too much of a drag to put up with. How can I get Kompozer? Or anything that might make web page generation easier? the OP should select the desired language when downloading from http://kompozer.net/download.php (scroll down) somehow ?? grabbed the one without "en" in the rpm name.. -- dd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

If I read it right the OP wants a WYSIWYG editor. When it was working Quanta was the best text based editor ever. It's an absolute shame that KDE 4.x killed it off. Even as crippled as it was in early versions of KDE 4.x it was better than anything else available. -- “The only difference between death and taxes is that death doesn't get worse every time Congress meets.” — Will Rogers _ _... ..._ _ _._ ._ ..... ._.. ... .._ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It was in 12.1, yes. I'm at 12.2, and it's not there. The Kompozer website says it's incompatible with the later gtk's, which is I suppose why it's no longer available for suse. And, as I mentioned earlier, I tried to install an older version anyhow, and it wouldn't install. jp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

If you *really* want kompozer, dl the *binary* package from sf (I believe), kompozer-0.8b3.en-US.gcc4.2-i686.tar.gz. open mc in the directory where you dl'd kompozer and save the package somewere below your <home> directory. komposer runs happily on T'weed and should have no trouble on your 12.2 system. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
