Re: [opensuse] NetworkManager ??
I understand there are 2 ways of running the network: "ifup" and "KnetworkManager". Ifup is run at bootup automatically and KnetworkManager is under user control. Try installing KnetworkManager in Yast and go to Network device configuration in Yast again. There should be a menu to switch from ifup to Network Manager. NetworkManager will respect most wired and wireless configurations
entered in Yast as well and bring up boot time connections.

but Knetwormanager doesn't hand very well WEP or WPA connections while if-up had no trouble. I have a USR Wireless PCMCIA and i'm using it with ndiswrapper. if-up work with WEP and WPA, but Knetworkmanager tell it support this settings, but isn't able to get up the connection. So i'm using if-up Greetings -- Un Saludo. Carlos Lorenzo Matés

Please read [1] in order to be able to distinguish between the NetworkManager and one of its frontends (nm-applet, KNetworkManager).

Using ndiswrapper with NetworkManager is a known combination to cause problems. Please have a look for similar bugs on http://bugzilla.novell.com. If you don't succeed, please file a new bug. Now is working. Many Thanks for all, i have readed the documentation and made a few checks in my settings i had ndiswrapper configured with an old usr11g driver that don't support very well the encription modes, the strange thing is i have this working with if-up without problem. now i have switched to a netgear driver (listed in the ndiswrapper page), and all is working fine :-D at this time i'm using wep, im also going to test wpa Greetings. -- Un Saludo.
