I've got SuSE 9.0 with GRUB as bootloader and want to also boot FreeBSD. Did the install of FreeBSD into /dev/hda3 and added this to menu.lst: title FreeBSD 5.1 root (hd0,2,a) kernel /boot/loader But I get "filesystem type unknown, partition type 0xA5. Error 17: cannot mount selected partition". Do I need another "stage_1_5" loader for the FreeBSD filesystem? -- ==================================================================== Glenn Holmer (Linux registered user #16682) ==================================================================== I think I am the product of three types of influences: the Vienna School for the language, Stravinsky and Bartok for the rhythmic impluse, and Debussy and Ravel for their preoccupation with sound. ==================================================================== -Pierre Boulez, 1998 ====================================================================

I've the following entry for booting NetBSD on my box also running 9.0 with grub: title NetBSD root (hd0,5,a) chainloader +1 -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogical, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A. This is what I finally had to do to get it to work: title FreeBSD 5.1 rootnoverify (hd0,2) chainloader +1 Thanks for all the interesting suggestions.

Grub doesn't understand UFS2. If you use UFS1 for your root partition you should be fine. -- Best regards Christian Laursen
