I don't think you have to mount them manually anymore since 9.1 -- kernel 2.6 has auto-mount -- just click on them if you want to access them. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Click on what?! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? It depends on the version of gnome you have. If you have a "Computer" icon on the desktop, double-click to open it and you will see each component you have: cd, floppy, etc. Right-click will then give you the option to mount, unmount, eject and so on, or double-click will open a file browser. In older versions, right-click on the desktop and select "disks." IF you are using a graphic , especially a KDE desktop, click on the my computer icon. When it opens click on the icon for the floppy, cd, etc. Of course if you renamed the "my computer" icon, as many of us have , you single click on the icon with your computer's name, inside that , you will see icons for each drive . That is you will see an icon for a floppy disk if there is one. There might be no option if you haven't put a disk into the drive. The same might be the case for a cd or flash card ,or USB drive. -- j -- nemo me impune lacessit

If you have automount enabled (which is the default in suse 9.1), just navigating with Nautilus or whatever to the /media/cdrom directory will mount it automatically. Same in kde. There might or might not be an icon on the desktop for them: I don't, perhaps I deleted them. I don't like icons on my desktop, I always use manual mount. Before I dissabled automount for the CD, just by having a CD inside the tray would create the icon, with the CD already mounted. Now, whenever I mount a CD or zip, the icon pops up. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

I suggest that you have them set as 'subfs' in fstab ****YOU NEED SUBMOUNT INSTALLED FOR THIS TO WORK****
