Okay, is the problem only with XFree86? Does the mouse and keyboard work with a console, e.g. <Ctrl><Alt><F2>? M

The keyboard works til i startx or go into sax2 then it quits working. the mouse is not working at all now. was working prior to my you update. when the systems seems to lockup on startx or sax can not go to a different console. jack

This is getting like 30 questions! ;-) I'm guessing that you've booted into a console, logged in and then typed "startx". Have you run sax2 from the console without running X? When it starts opt not to use the current configuration file. Once sax2 has started, don't touch the mouse and only use the <Tab> key (if keyboard works) to navigate the menu so that you can select the correct mouse driver. M

I'm booting straight to console not into xwin at all. I start up sax2 an i now see a message at bottom of screen to hit the 5 on the numkeypad, will give that a try tomorrow morning when i get back into the office. Thanks for the suggestion. will let the list know how it goes in morning here. jack
