[opensuse] tvheadend access control
I want to try tvheadend as an alternative to mythtv. I installed the package and started the service from YaST. It's running. I believe all setup is supposed to be done through its web interface at http://localhost:9981/ but when I go there I am presented with an 'Authentication Required' dialog. I gather that the vanilla tvheadend is open-access when shipped and any required access control is added after installation and configuration from within the web interface. So I can only suppose that somebody decided unrestricted access was dangerous and modified the program before shipping the opensuse version. I've tried a few obvious candidate name-password pairs. I've looked in what seem to me to be the obvious places for any documentation, or configuration file that contains details of the required username and password, but have failed to find any such. Does anybody know how to get access to tvheadend's web interface? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks, Ken. I'd just found --noacl :) My latest puzzlement is how to set up the directory to store recordings. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Maybe you could try "kodi". It is stand-alone, but many packages. The machine has to be powerful enough, depending on what you want it for, but there are Android versions. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.3 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)

Kodi is the front-end. tvheadend is the back-end. There are no Android back-ends that I am aware of. Not that I want one. mythtv tries to be both and as a result appears to be mind-bogglingly complex. Oh and thanks to your pointer to your discussion with Per last year. I definitely agree with your opinion more than his. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
