Hi, Is there something similar to kaza but for linux instead windows? Wojtek
Yup... gtk-gnutella. It's on the SuSE disks if I remember correctly. It taps into the Kazaa, Bearshare, Morpheus etc networks. C. On Monday 30 September 2002 23:56, Wojtek Malinski wrote:

I installed gtk-gnutella. Do I need to do anything specific to configure it? I'm getting WARNING Message: ** WARNING **: cannot resolve gnotella.fileflash.com: gethostbyname(): Unknown host ** WARNING **: cannot resolve router.limewire.com: gethostbyname(): Unknown host ** WARNING **: cannot resolve gnotella.fileflash.com: gethostbyname(): Unknown host ** WARNING **: cannot resolve router.limewire.com: gethostbyname(): Unknown host ** WARNING **: cannot resolve gnotella.fileflash.com: gethostbyname(): Unknown host Any ideas? At first guess... are you connected to the web when you launched it? I get a couple of harmless widget errors, but nothing else unusual. As soon as I launch the app it immediately starts querying the web for servers and trys to establish connections with the various servers. I didn't have to do anything to configure it except to add in my own preferences for download locations and whether I wanted to use a proxy or not. C. I'd guess either your Domain Name Server is not set up correctly, or you don't have a connection to the internet at all. Let us know which one it is so we can help you further? Regards, Pieter

Nevermind. It seems I was a bit hasty as usual. From what I can tell these servers no longer exist. I get the same messages, but despite that I do get into touch with other servers. Does the program work for you other than these messages? Regards, Pieter Hulshoff
Hi, There are two that I have used: --> phlex (requires the latest Java Runtime) --> LimeWire Both run the Gnutella network and work well. Regards Q On Mon, 2002-09-30 at 23:56, Wojtek Malinski wrote:

On a similar note, I have been using Kazaa Lite with WINE with great success; haven't had any problem. Check out the comments on the WINE HQ site for Kazaa and you will find a recent posting which has described the very few steps that you need to tak (need some dll's from Win98). Hope that helps, Ali. Hi, I have a question. It seems that the package gtk-gnutella is for GNOME. Is that right or does it work with KDE as well? Thanks. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Version: 6.0.389 / Virus Database: 220 - Release Date: 9/16/2002

Yes, it will. Being a GTK app simply means it uses the GTK widget set, which can be used in KDE or Gnome. However, yes, Gnome is built on GTK, and KDE on Qt, so you might have to install GTK support packages to run it, but not necessairly the entire Gnome suite. Donavan Pantke

Ok, I've installed gtk-gnutella, but I can only run it if I log into KDE as root. If I log in as a regular user and go to "xterm" and type in "gtk" and push "TAB" it shows only the file "gtkasp2php". The file "gtk-gnutella" is in the directory "/opt/gnome/bin/". If I log into the console as root or as a user the file "gtk-gnutella" appears when I type in "gtk" and push "TAB". My question is: Can I run gtk-gnutella as a regular user? If so, why isn't it working? Is there a variable I need to change for my regular user account in KDE to recognize the "/opt/gnome/bin/" directory, like a PATH variable? Thanks... --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Thiago, When you press TAB in certain shells such as tcsh or bash, it gives you the available executables in your "PATH". Each user has his/her own PATH setting so what the root user sees by pressing TAB is different from what others see. To set your PATH to include a certain directory, it is a matter of changing or adding a line to your shell initialization file, such as .tcshrc, etc. which should reside in the home directory of the user. Find out what shell you are running and then read the man pages for that. Ali. On Tuesday 01 October 2002 11:54 pm, Thiago Lucas wrote:
