The submount home page says: " If a keyword is used in the fs= option, submountd will attempt to mount filesystems from a list. Currently there are two options: fs=floppyfss attempts vfat and ext2, and fs=cdfss tries iso9660 and udf. " So indeed, fs=floppyfss will stop xfs/reiserfs from working. But, it goes on to say: "Another option is to use a colon separated list of filesystems:" So perhaps in this particular situation, one could specify fs=vfat:reiserfs:xfs ..and that might enable both the xD cards and the firewire drives to work?

Subfs cannot mount a vfat on an xD card (sorry, that's the only media I can test) when fs is omitted from mount command or specified as fs=auto.
That means, choose you poison. If you are using firewire/usb drives, do not specify fs=floppyfss in mount command. If you want to access camera cards, use fs=floppyfss
No universal solution I can think of right now.

I think if you notice, the hotplug hasn't changed. The guys at SuSE just reposted the original .32-22, but what you probably didn't notice was that you also got a new version of "submount" installed during your YOU update! But you are right, it is fixed and works nicely now! :o) Lee -- --- KMail v1.6.2 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206 I do everything my Rice Krispies tell me to do!

Sure seems to! Fred -- "Running Windows on a Pentium is like getting a Porsche but only being able to drive it in reverse with the handbrake on."
Now i can access my usb camera, but i still have some hard lockups using my usb stick.... No output is given to syslogd. I just have to write/delete something in the drive, then i have a nice freeze.... If i disable hotplug and mount the drive manually it works fine. The new one didn't work here. It causes the same problem as before, where I can't read my pen drive.

What format is your pen drive in? Do you have it formatted as ext2 or something 'nix? If so you will need to change the item in your /etc/hotplug/hotplug.subfs.functions file that Kastus mentioned to fix the 32-22 hotplug earlier. YOU won't update that file (hotplug), if you already had it installed (.32-22), so if you made the change in that file and have something other than FAT32 format on the pen drive, it won't see it! You can do one of two things, edit the above file to correct it or reinstall hotplug so the file will be rewritten to work with the new submount.
