[SLE] Cable Modem MAC Address
I want to find out the mac address of my cable modem. Does anyone know how (no...it's not on a label on the bottom of the modem...I looked!!!). You could try "/usr/sbin/arp". It might not work though.. ferinstance, an Apple (Lucent) Airport I have here shows up, but not an Alcatel 1000 DSL modem.

You could try an indirect method.. Load up something like "iptraf" and then go into the Ethernet transmission menu and send some traffic over your Cable Modem.. The MAC address should show up with some traffic stats beside it.. I am not sure if this will work for different hardware, but if the cable modem follows a similar technology to an Ethernet NIC then you should see all the info..
