Aaaargh! Package Management frustration
Hi all, Is there any way to prevent YaST from going to SuSE's ftp site and downloading all of the .../setup/descr description files every flippin time I want to install a package from a local directory? This has been driving me crazy. I've looked everywhere, but can find nothing on how to change this behaviour. Thanks VERY much in advance if anyone can tell me how to only have it load these when I want to go to their ftp site. Charles

I'm not sure what you are saying here. I install using yast1 from a local directory and as far as I know it never tries to do anything out the network. ????? Mark
I bet you have set Install Media to ftp. Change this to local CD and YaST won't go to ftp site any more. Installation settings->Select installatin medium->Installation from CD/DVD -Kastus On Wed, Apr 04, 2001 at 03:44:50PM -0400, Charles Marcus wrote:

That did it... Thanks! Even though this list is extremely high volume, at least it isn't just noise! Charles
