[opensuse] switching to postgres96
I had the following indication from Knurpth: Install postgresql 9.6 ( not 10, if that's installed use update-alternatives --config postgresql ) Stop akonadi, move ~/.local/share/akonadi so that you can go back Change ~/.config/akonadi/akonadiserverrc like this ============== [Debug] Tracer=null [%General] Driver=QPSQL [QPSQL] Host=/tmp/akonadi-YOURUSERNAME.SOMEHASH InitDbPath=/usr/bin/initdb Name=akonadi Options= ServerPath=/usr/bin/pg_ctl StartServer=true ============== Start akonadi and the database will be rebuilt. Took about 20 minutes for 7 IMAP, 1 POP account, total of ~150.000 emails. On Leap you may need some extra KDE Framework lib, but AFAIK that's no longer needed. Now my question was: Referring to:
Install postgresql 9.6 ( not 10, if that's installed use update-alternatives --config postgresql ) I do not understand this, I do run postgres --config postgresql after having it installed from the terminal?
Postgres96 client or server? I suppose client. Or is it like mythtv that you have to install both on the same machine? I have seen it does draw in forcefully(!) also postgressql10 and and postgresql (version 10 also).
Stop akonadi, move ~/.local/share/akonadi so that you can go back
So is it sufficient to rename it? Or what do you mean with move? BTW why not version 10? Is it known to have problems? _________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________ Ihre E-Mail-Postfcher sicher & zentral an einem Ort. I do not understand this, I do run postgres --config postgresql after having it installed from the terminal? You can have a look at these sites for assistance, i followed these and got it working. https://www.enricozini.org/blog/2015/akonadi-install/ https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:PostgreSQL Follow "Installation", "Initiating PostgreSQL server" and "Post install configuration" instructions Check .config/akonadi/akonadiserverrc change the line "Driver=QMYSQL" to "Driver=QPSQL"

BTW why not version 10? Is it known to have problems? It doesn't seem to work with kmail, not sure why.

Ok, i need more help on this. Where is Yast/miscelanous/Alternative? I have the italian version, so there is: various (is like miscelaneous) inside i have - snapper - systemlog - journal of systemd - cd of the producer. So probably it is not this yast miscelaneous or i have to install some yast package? You speak about yast2 via GUI right? Or are you talking about CLI yast? _________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________ Ihre E-Mail-Postfächer sicher & zentral an einem Ort. It is an addition to yast, you probably need to install it. I'll try on my laptop. I'm accessing remotely over 1 meter away ;-), so using ssh: cer@Telcontar:~> ssh -X root@Legolas.valinor Last login: Sun Jul 15 23:56:22 2018 from 192.168.1.14 Have a lot of fun... Legolas:~ # And then, I'll use zypper to search for the package; I already had a guess at the name. First I tried "yast-*", failed. Then "yast*", too many, but it was already there. So finally: Legolas:~ # zypper se yast2-a* Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... Yes, as Carlos pointed out, it looks like you have to install alternatives and then it should appear in Yast. There is also a CLI version.

update-alternatives --config postgresql and set it to 96. That's all IIRC -- Gertjan Lettink a.k.a. Knurpht openSUSE Board Member openSUSE Forums Team -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Sorry if I appear tarded, but one speaks about yast...and this looks like a cli command. Is this cli or is this in yast. Then I think I am close to a solution here. I guess I have to run: sudo update-alternatives --config postgresql from the command line. Right? _________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________ Ihre E-Mail-Postfächer sicher & zentral an einem Ort.
