X4.0.2 and SaX2 and Silicon Motion SM720 Lynx3DM
I've got an HP pavilion laptop with the above chipset. When I try to run SaX2 or xf86cfg the screen goes blank and I have to reboot to get it back. I'm Xless. Anyone know the trick for this chipset? -- Mark Hounschell markh@compro.net
Mark, Have you tried this link? http://www.suse.de/de/hardware/zertifizierung/manufacturers/fsc/cfsl_noteboo k/litelinelf6.html I know that it is from the German database, but it is in english (at least this page is). Look at the bottom of the page, it says "NOTE:Please have a look at our support database for special install instructions corncerning X-Server and Sound! " I also found this page that might be of some help to you: http://xfree.org/current/siliconmotion.4.html Hope this helps you. Doug Finch

Hello Doug, I hadn't found that, but once there it basically led me around in circles. I found no reference in the data base about lynx3dm or sm720. The xfree link just says everything works, no problems. I did see something about the xsvga server update for X3.3.6 but from what I've read all should work in X4.0.2????????????
