The anti-Linux M$ disinformation and FUD attack is in high gear and it looks like the MicroDrones have been recruited/payed? to help spread the smear...
They're scared.
Why is MickySoft so scared? 46 to 47% of their total sales revenue is derived from sales of Office. With that in mind, here's what WOULD, WITHOUT QUESTION, give Ballmer a LOT more than just a headache, IF ALL of the following were true by years end!! And, it IS doable!! IF the development of OpenOffice were "kicked up a LOT of notches" so that it is; modular in design, writes files in a COMMON data format so other applications can access them, is feature rich but NOT bloated, and ALL code is written FOR Linux, then ported to 'Bloze etc., MickySoft wouldn't know which way to turn or roll over dead! Understand that there ISN'T any loyalty to M$, in spite of Ballmer's exaggerations. STABILITY, features, ease of use, and cost are MORE important than "who" wrote it....period. The position of Linux in the marketplace presently is proof of that. If I were a programmer, I'd spend as much time as possible assisting the OpenOffice group...NO question, because this is the single MOST IMPORTANT application that can propel Linux onto the MAJORITY of desktops worldwide almost instantly! The "ball" is in the Linux communities court, and the success or failure Linux enjoys, or suffers, WILL be determined by us, NOT MickySoft nor anyone else. Fred -- ----/ / _ Fred A. Absolutley! Of course gaming is maturing too, just need to make it easier to setup joysticks then we are laughing (and when I had a Voodoo it worked well under 2.4 with dri). All are doable. M$ probably are wondering right now about this, but are: Hoping this is really just a fad and will fade away: Wondering how they can kill it, FUD campaigns are just starting, make people not want it because they want people to believe Windows will always be better than anything else on the market. I believe Windows will end up reducing its own market by: Offering that subscription model, where the OS will only be able to be installed on one computer. If you replace the hardware, or do your usual replacement/upgrade then you have to call into MS and prove you are the original customer, then they give you a new key so you can continue on..
