I have recently formatted the linux partition from the Win2k.
This time Linux installation didn't detect the correct model of my monitor as it had done in my very first installation.
I run Linux 8.2 Prof. Why that happened?
Who can say? Have you changed the monitor or graphics card between installations? Assuming you have a working installation (since you can send mail) it is easy to use YaST's Hardware>Graphics card and monitor module to enter the monitor manually.

I did nothing to my system, between these to installations. I was forced to reinstall the system after unmounting (accidentally) my /boot and the boot loader damaged. Moreover, this type of monitor is not included in the models list. Eventhough the NEC Multisync is supported, not mine!!! ------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.mail.gr/ - Get Your Private Free Email Address! http://www.ringtone.gr/ - Ringtones & Logos for your mobile!

It's a pity you didn't contact us about this, we might have been able to get you out of it...

You can still enter the characteristics of the monitor directly. If they are not printed on the back of the unit, and you don't have the manual any more then you can find them in a datasheet on the manufacturer's website www.nec.com . The info you need is there, but I'm not doing all your work for you! You need the Horizontal and Vertical refresh rates, and max resolution. Incidentally, have you tried setting it to NEC Multisync and see what happens? Dylan -- Sweet moderation Heart of this nation Desert us not We are between the wars - Billy Bragg
