[SLE] Mail header puzzles
Hi all, It puzzles me. In SuSE 6.3 I use fetchmail / postfix on my file/mailserver to take care of my mail. Everything works fine. Being one of those who still earn their living with M$ products, I use my Win98 box to read mail in Outlook98. No problems so far ;-) In the lists with mail, the From column is OK, but if I open the mail the from line sometimes reads "suse-linux-e-return-15858-jeroen=jota.nl@suse.com namens [Name of sender]" (namens is Dutch for 'on behalf of') and sometimes it just displays senders name@net.address ??? I searched the headers for differences. It seems that if the sender is using Pine or any windooz mail app, the From-line displays the long format. With Mozzilla everything appears to be right. Anyway is there a way to always just show the short format, (ie not the 'suse-linux-e-return-15858-jeroen=jota.nl@suse.com'-part) in the from-line? Thanks for any advice, keep up the good work... Could it be that your mailer accidently displays the From_ line (without `:') instead of the From: line when you open a mail?
