Adding Mail to Kmail mailboxes
I use Kmail and Suse 10.0. I moved some mail from my old kmailbox to my new kmailbox (/home/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail/inbox/cur) on another harddrive. But when I open Kmail I only see the mail I've downloaded to this machine, none of the mail I moved. How do I get kmail to recognize the new mail in the mailbox? Is there some default way to add mail to a kmail mailbox? Thanks, Jerome

If you import the mails using KMails import tool (in the "file" menu) it should work easy... Daniel -- Daniel Bauer photographer Basel Switzerland professional photography: http://www.daniel-bauer.com Madagascar special: http://www.sanic.ch

Speaking (tangentially) of import... I mounted a customers old NTFS partition on the SuSE machine and use kmailCvt to suck in a couple gig of Outlook Express mail into Kmail. Imported it all, maintaining the same directory structure and everything. Wow. That is one slick package. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
Hi John, Did you know any package to import the mail, calendar, todos and notes from Outlook. Regards Lívio Cipriano ----- Original Message ----- On Wednesday 23 August 2006 02:52, Daniel Bauer wrote:

i had a similar problem and found no good solution. In hindsight, the following might work: KMail --> Settings --> Configure Kmail --> Accounts Add a new source pointing to your old mail directory. Maybe it'll work, maybe not. -- ----- stephan@s11n.net http://s11n.net "...pleasure is a grace and is not obedient to the commands of the will." -- Alan W. Watts

If I understand your procedure and question correctly all you'd have to do is make sure KMail is not running, delete _all_ of the 'index' files ( *.index, *.index.ids, *.index.sorted) in your Mail directory, restart KMail and it will rebuild all of its indexes based on what it finds. All your email should then be available. Stan

Hello Stan, This works great. It adds the old emails to the new. Thanks, Jerome
