Chance to tell Novell what we need!
We've discussed the need for a good tax package. Well, here's your chance to tell Novell that we NEED IT!! If you've got any critical applications that you MUST be able to use on Linux, please take a minute to let us know what they are, and we'll see what we can do to nudge the folks who create them. As the first George Bush said:
"Read my lips. No GNU taxes". ;-)
Cute, James, but we MUST have a tax prep. package! Fred -- Paid purchaser of ALL SuSE Linux releases since 6.x

What's wrong with using an online product like taxactonline.com?
Some of us don't want our info touching any one elses systems, and I for one don't trust corporate servers that might just be windows based, and secured like some of those credit reporting companies that seem to have been breached too often.

Quite right! And, as I said before, there are many who would have a business doing tax prep. IF there was a good package. I KNOW of a number who do accounting and tax prep. who WOULD switch to SUSE in a heatbeat, IF there was that (once again) tax prep. package available!! Small business has given minimum requirements, and one of them is a good tax prep. package. We don't have to have Quicken, as MoneyDance will do the same work, and it's only $29.00(US). OO handles the rest of business needs. Fred -- Paid purchaser of ALL SuSE Linux releases since 6.x

I'm with you on this one Fred, but if I read the page right, they're thinking more of corporations than us desktop junkies. Mind you, if Intuit's QuickTax that I buy every year, ran on Linux, then I'm sure their small business tax package would as well. Mike

I strongly encourage everyone to take the opportunity to submit whatever packages you may wish to see ported/created for Linux here. The value of the dataset being collected by Novell is enhanced by the breadth and scope of the submissions. The more -- the better both from an indication of demand standpoint and a priority standpoint. Thanks. -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E.
