Does star office and open office use the fonts from kde3? if so can i take the fonts from the kde2 and use them in kde3? I installed star office 5.2 in suse 8.1 and i don't get the same fonts and had used before and it is messing up my documents. *--------------------------------* | Chris Large clarge@macn.bc.ca | | http://clarge.bc.ca | *--------------------------------*

Since you have SuSE 8.1, try the version of OpenOffice that is included with SuSE. Assuming that your fonts are located in a file such as /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype and that the KDE Control Centre - Font Installer has been set to that file, then OpenOffice or StarOffice6 should be able to find and use the fonts. -- Ralph Sanford - If your government does not trust you, rsanford@telusplanet.net - should you trust your government? Don't forget that truetype fonts provided with your MS Windows (if you have it) can be added to your ......../fonts/truetype directory and Open Office will use them nicely. Have a look at the FONT-HOWTO document to see how to set up new fonts. Regards Ken Hough

Or even easier, if you are using kde 303 as in 8.1, go to K>controlcenter>system>font manager as root and it walks you through it. Hint: take a copy of the /w$/system/font directory over to your Linuks partition first. Steve.

StarOffice 5.2 fonts are installed only with difficulty. There was/is a utility: Preferences->System->Font Installer, that helps, though, as I recall, it's best run as root. StarOffice 6.0 and (I presume) OpenOffice have no difficulty dealing with fonts. JDL
