Help! I am running Suse 7.2 with a cdrw and a cdr When I installed 7.2, but before I went througr the steps to emulate scsi, I had no trouble mounting discs. However, since I have emulated scsi, no cds are recognized. The message I get is Could not mount filesystem /dev/cdrecorder : Input/output error mount: you must specify the filesystem type The pertinent entries in /etc/fstab are /dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder auto ro,noauto, user, exec 0 0 dev/cdrom /media/cdreom auto ro,noauto, user, exec 0 0 I also did ln -sf /dev/scd0 /media/cdrecorder ln -sf /dev/scd1 /media/cdrom Under /root there is /media/cdrecorder /media/cdrom There are also two link files called cdrecorder and cdrom I would sorely like help in getting this to work where not only can I read from my installation discs but also play music cds I want to install gphoto from 7.1 ( which I have) I actually switched from RH 7.1 to Suse 7.2 because I liked it better, except for this problem. Suffice it to say that RH not only recognizes both my drives automatically, but would mount and play my music cds automatically also.
I'm not far ahead of you, so this is fresh in my mind... On Fri, 7 Sep 2001, Erle Robinson wrote:

1) added 'append hd[x]=ide-scsi hd[y]=ide-scsi' to your lilo.conf? 2) run /sbin/lilo to reinstall the MBR? 3) added '/sbin/modprobe ide-scsi' to /etc/init.d/boot.local 4) reboot to implement all these changes? As root, run `cdrecord -scanbus`. Does it find both the CDROM and the CDRecorder? Are they assigned the scsi device numbers you expected?

The pertinent entries in /etc/fstab are
/dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 dev/cdrom /media/cdreom auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0
I also did ln -sf /dev/scd0 /media/cdrecorder ln -sf /dev/scd1 /media/cdrom
Do these devices correspond to the output of cdrecord -scanbux?
Under /root there is /media/cdrecorder /media/cdrom
There are also two link files called cdrecorder and cdrom
I would sorely like help in getting this to work where not only can I read from my installation discs but also play music cds
With the above modules and links in place, I can mount media in either drive, and I can play audio CDs in the CDROM. ANybody know how to specify the device explicitly to the CD player, so I can play audio CD's in the cdrecorder? My life isn't chaotic enough - I want to try some scratchin'! Rick Green
