I'm a dummy when it comes to hardware: I have a couple castoff PCs. Both PIIIs, 450MHz and 800MHz. Both are woefully low on memory. They have PC133, 128MB modules. I haven't found info on either on the net. One is a Dell, but they don't list that model for upgrade info. Question: Can I put 512MB modules in them? -- Jim Sabatke Hire Me!! - See my resume at http://my.execpc.com/~jsabatke Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup. NOTE: Please do not email me any files with the following extensions. They are deleted on my ISP's server before I ever see them, and no bounce message is sent. I am not notified they are deleted. I am doing this because of the volume and size of spam files I receive. If you wish to send me a file of one of these types, contact me first and I will tell you how to send it: lnk asd hl |ocx reg bat c[ho]m cmd exe dll vxd pif scr hta jse? sh[mbs] vb[esx] ws[fh] wav mov wmf

Get the model of the mother board and search for information, e-mail the builder (dell for one) and ask what you can put in it. I've done this for older systems. Mike

Question: Can I put 512MB modules in them? Probably. See if you can find out what the motherboard model/make is and check that manufacturer's website.

You can also check the search engine here:
http://www.motherboards.org/search.html
Find out your motherboards' name and version number, and look through
the manual in the search results. It should specify how large memory
modules you can use.

This PII 350 has 256mb and 9.1 is a little slow. time to shop. If you can handle it pickup some 512mb chips and youll do fine. My PIII has only one 512 but its enough and room for two more. If you lost the MB books then its time to open the box blow out the dust with an air can and look for the ID on the MB. CWSIV

Thanks! I never did have the manuals; the box is a freebie that was cast-off by a company I know. Thats twice the box I have. Likely it does take 512mb 168 pin DIMM just find out how many slots you have. Also likely there is a PDF online for the mb so get it and print it. Nothing like hard copy when the box refuses to come up. CWSIV
