Is anyone running VMware Wokstation 5 successfully with Suse 9.3? VMware says they only support Suse stock kernel 2.6.4-52 officially. Thanks, Jerome

Hi.
What about vmmon module?.
At least for VMware GSX 3.1, you need the vmware-any-any-89 patch. I can't say for VMware WS, I don't use it. Another problem is the perl system if you run on x32_64.. I haven't managed to use it at all.. Anders Norrbring

Does it allow also to run speech recognition software such as "IBM Viavoice" or "Dragon Naturally Speaking"? They need access to the soundcard / mic in. (Win4lin does not support it, and says it's not on their list for the near future...) Thanks, Matt

VMware should allow access to all system hardware. Linux may intercept USB devices though. - James W.

Never specifically tried viavoice, but VMWare WS 5 (unlike 4.5) does support sound properly. Mike- -- Mornings: Evolution in action. OK, thanks, I'll give VMWare WS 5 a try :) Regards, Matt

It's working well for me. Be sure you install both kernel-source and kernel-syms before running vmware-config.pl.
Thanks, Jerome

Both the kernel-source and kernel-syms are both on your distribution disks. Easiest installed with YaST2. Anders.
