No, that's MATLAB, a linear algebra package. Maple can do a lot more, it's basically a symbolic formula manipulator, but can also do numerical computation. It's a bit like Mathematica, although Maple and Mathematica users relate like vim vs emacs advocates. :-)
Even then there are free Maxima[1] and wxMaxima[2] for symbolic calculations. Both are included into openSUSE Education [3].
