Hi That's very good advice and I shall always recommend official opensuse builds to system administrators. However, the vast majority of linux users do not have root access. Many of us here seem to forget that. L x
I take issue with both claims.
There is no evidence of better system stability using Thunderbird from Opensuse vs directly from Mozilla repositories.
I agree that stability is not really a difference. And at the moment the difference between Thunderbird 8 from Mozilla.org and openSUSE is not that big. One of the biggest differences right now is that we are using gio for helper app and default mailer detection while mozilla.org ships with gnome-vfs and gconf on that side. That means you most likely get wrong (or no) helper applications and the default mailer check is also broken.
Second, the vast majority of Linux users DO have root.
Think the same. Corporate users might have not but they probably also get into trouble installing it along in their home. Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
